RZW sets up second COVID-19 isolation tent

-

The Regionaal Ziekenhuis Wanica (RZW) is currently busy setting up a second isolation tent for COVID-19 patients on its premises. The second isolation tent is located near the first one that became operational at the start of August. The director of this hospital, Fauzia Poese, told Times of Suriname that the second tent is being put up as a precaution as the hospital wants to be prepared in case more people who are infected with the novel coronavirus must be admitted. The goal is to finish constructing the second tent this week. Just like the first tent it will also have airconditioning and small sleeping quarters, a shower room and toilet facility. The second tent can accommodate 98 patients max. After the second tent has been constructed the RZW will be able to admit 200 patients on its premises.

Poese pointed out that 60 people have already been admitted to the first tent and that most of the patients who have been admitted to this hospital in Wanica have already been cured and discharged. On Friday there were still 29 COVID-19 patients in the first isolation tent.

The COVID-19 website on Saturday indicated that 896 people are currently infected with the novel coronavirus and that 173 patients have been admitted to the various hospitals. 24 people are at the ICUs and 734 patients are in isolation. The highly contagious COVID-19 has already claimed 67 lives in Suriname. 3,954 people have already tested positive for COVID-19 in Suriname.
