Two babies and five adults sustain injuries in traffic accident

Two babies and five adults on Wednesday sustained injuries in a traffic accident that took place along the Tout Lui Fautkanaal­weg. Reports indicate that three cars were involved in the traffic accident and that the injured people were transporte­d to the Emergency Room in two ambulances. Grondweg and approached a T junction of the Tout Lui Fautkanaal­weg. The driver did not see other vehicles so he turned right to enter the Tout Lui Fautweg but his car was suddenly hit in the rear by another car. Sources told Times of Suriname that a car that was driving on the Tout Lui Fautkanaal­weg before ramming a car that was in front of him. The other car hit a traffic sign before ending up on its head in the ditch. A baby that was in this car ‘flew’ out the window and into the channel. A bystander who witnessed the accident rushed to get the baby out of the channel. The driver who had hit the car in front of him also hit a car that came from the opposite direction. Both vehicles were damaged. There was also a baby in the car that had hit the two other cars. The infant stopped moving so the parents immediatel­y started reanimatin­g the child. Their attempts were successful because the baby started to cry. Five adults and two babies were taken to the hospital for medical treatment. A local resident complained that people always exceed the speed limit on the Tout Lui Fautkanaal­weg.
