Jogi: “The horse becomes skinny but does not die”

-

MP Mahinder Jogi (VHP) is still convinced that President Chandrikapersad Santokhi will soon be able to control the crisis on various fronts. The question remains if that will happen within the first 200 days as was promised by the president. The legislator made it clear that the proverb: “while the grass grows, the horse starves” is not applicable. “The horse may become skinny but it does not die, because I know that the government is working. I know that the president is working hard for the people,” said the legislator who acknowledged that the cost of living has drastically gone up and that there is poverty. “I am convinced that the government is working very hard. The president and his team and the vice president are working hard to keep their promise. But the fact remains that the people are suffering. That is true. And the president knows that too. We all do,” said MP Jogi who criticized the then government for the price policy and the prices of foreign currencies when he was a member of the opposition for 10 years. This time MP Jogi is a member of the coalition. Meanwhile the price of the American dollar has risen to SRD 20. This has also affected the retail prices. Jogi pointed out that “I am not blind but one must also take the cause into account.” The new government started with an empty treasury and that is the cold hard truth that the nation must not forget. “The reality is that the monetary reserves at the banks have been depleted. The reality is that we are looking at a high debt. The reality is that we are fighting against COVID19. The reality is that are income is almost at zero and that our expenses are growing. That is the big challenge,” said Jogi. “I know Mister Santokhi. He is a man who works very hard and there is hope and faith. Many people thought that things would be taken care of within 200 days. But it is difficult to get it done but it will be done.”
