In 1969 Huber Givenchy launched his men’s ready-to-wear line “Givenchy Gentleman”, ten paintings, including a Rembrandt, were defaced at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in an apparent protest, the Soviet Union launched Soyuz 5 and Appolo 10 was launched as a full rehearsal for the Moon landing. The year ended by Max Delbrück, Alfred D. Hershey and Salvador E. Luria receiving the Noble Prize in Physiology and Medicine for their discoveries concerning “the replication mechanism and the genetic structure of viruses”. In his speech at the Nobel Banquet in Stockholm, Alfred D. Hershey said, “we speak different languages but we share similar sentiments.”

Today, fifty one years later, everyday life has come to halt. All of a sudden we’re changing our ways. We are perplexed, so many questions. This issue may be like a time capsule of what was and hopefully our beloved industry will be back in full swing. We love creativity and we love creative platforms, and it looks like it’s time to evolve. Louis Vuitton is now producing hand sanitizer to help hospitals in their shortage, Giorgio Armani has donated $ 1.4 million to fight against the coronavirus, Moncler is giving $ 11 million to help to build a new hospital for coronavirus patients in Milan. All these companies have different policies and strategies and people behind them speak different languages, live in different countries and have different ideas about life. However, the priceless contribution they are making today clearly illustrates that they share similar sentiments. We – people of the world – share similar sentiments! And this is our most precious gift that helps us today survive and make sure that there is a lot more to look forward to – more fashion designers to celebrate, more artworks to behold, more hypotheses about life on Mars and Venus to explore, more scientific discoveries to celebrate, more Nobel Prizes to hand out and to receive, and more sentiments to share…
