Massproductions expands its transparency in new E-commerce

-

On April 21st Massproductions will launch its own e-commerce platform. The range will consist of a curated selection of Massproductions’ best-selling products, with designs chosen by Massproductions’ founders Magnus Elebäck and Chris Martin as well as limited editions exclusive to massproductions.se. In connection to the launch, Massproductions’ new initiative for increased transparency will also be presented.

In the last two years, Massproductions has doubled its turnover, expanding from 12 to 20 people and this winter was awarded DI’S Gazell award. Following this success, the company is now investing in the development of an e-commerce platform for private customers, eventually an advanced buying and ordering tool for professionals, and increased transparency.

In late 2020 Massproductions began working on an extensive project, with the working title The Transparency Project. The first step consists of documenting and collecting information from the company’s sub-suppliers. The result is presented on the new website, where Massproductions reports on the environmental and social standards of their suppliers.

Step two in the process is to account for the CO2 emissions of their full product range. In this process Massproductions have initiated a collaboration with KTH (Royal Institute of Technology), to develop a tool for identifying the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the production of their furniture. Three aspects of the production process were identified as emission contributors: materials, electricity, and transport. This project is expected to be completed later this year, but will from now on be presented continuously throughout the year. Today Massproductions can present data for four of our products; Rose Chair, Harry, Tio, and Icha Chair. “Making products will always mean an imprint on the environment, to say something else is hypocritical. For us, it has been important and interesting to investigate what imprint we make and to find methods and processes to reduce this. The tools we

have developed will follow us into each new development process, even if it, in our case, only involves two to three new products per year.” Magnus Elebäck The range on offer consists of a ready-made selection of products with textiles and finishes curated by Massproductions’founders. There will also be products in limited editions. One of them is Massproductions’ classic sofa Dandy, which for the first time will be available in a two-tone version. The popular Crown collection will also be sold exclusively, in the new fabric Silas by Raf Simons for Kvadrat. Massproductions will also launch completely new product collections that can only be purchased in the shop. First, out is a new pillow collection consisting of pillows made of recycled down.

“As our furniture until now has mostly been available to progressive architects around the world, we have been spoiled with their feeling and knowhow when it comes to fabric and material selection. It is extremely exciting to be able to define what Massproductions is for a wider audience. Both when it comes to the digital experience of us as a company, but of course most when it comes to our furniture. Chris and I have picked out our absolute favourites and dressed them in new interesting fabrics, colours, woods to create a unique collection”, says Magnus Elebäck, CEO and co-founder of Massproductions
