Angel of mercy hits the road
The medical doctor dubbed “angel on earth” by the cyber community after being caught on video giving first-aid to an injured motorcyclist said she was happy to have helped save a life.
The doctor was spotted giving help to a blood-soaked motorcyclist in the middle of a road in a short clip widely circulated online. She was identified as Praewa Mitrakul, a medical instructor at Ramathibodi, according to a report at Sanook.com.
Dr Praewa said she was making her way along Rama IV Road on an errand when she saw the accident.
According to a news report, the accident occurred when a biker slammed into the back of a truck on Monday evening.
His throat was cut and he was bleeding profusely.
Video poster Yingyot Srinakarn said the motorcyclist’s throat was cut by a broken shard of glass from the truck’s window.
“If the woman hadn’t stopped to help him, he probably would have died. The woman injured her knee as she was kneeling on the road which was covered with broken glass. She was very kind,” wrote Yingyot.
Dr Praewa said she told her junior associate who was driving the car to stop so she cold help the injured motorcyclist.
She said she stemmed the flow of blood with her hand while waiting for rescue teams to arrive, which took about 10 minutes.
Dr Praewa said she failed to see the glass on the road as she was helping the man.
“I saw the accident had just occurred so I had the chance of saving a I am glad I helped save one,” Dr Praewa said.
This was the third time she has offered medical help to strangers. While thanking the cyber world for elevating her to angel status, the doctor said anyone else would have done the same.
