SICK OF BEING A WALKING ATM

-

The tourism minister seems to think that all is well in the tourism industry and that foreigners are continuing to “flock” to Thailand. I have news for him. Many foreigners are now going to other Asian nations where they are treated equally. In Thailand they are regarded as mobile ATMs.

From the moment a foreigner exits the airport to the moment they depart, he or she is continually charged prices in excess of what a Thai national would pay. Airport taxis, tours, aquariums, national parks and zoos all charge foreigners exorbitant fees. Fruit and food carts charge double or triple what I would pay in my village, as do the large supermarkets. I know of friends who will never return because of this and I cannot blame them.
