Wild’s Dubnyk shuts out Maple Leafs in close win

>> ST PAUL: Devan Dubnyk made 28 saves for his fourth shut-out of the season and Matt Dumba scored a power-play goal as the Minnesota Wild beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0 on Thursday.

James Reimer stopped 27 shots for Toronto.

The Maple Leafs outshot Minnesota 13-0 over a 16-minute stretch spanning the first and second periods. They even held the Wild without a shot through almost two full power plays. However, with nine seconds remaining in the second man advantage, Dumba finally got a shot on the net, scoring the lone goal.

Toronto had a goal overturned with four minutes to go.

Ottawa’s Mike Hoffman scored his second goal of the game 30 seconds into overtime to give the Senators a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

In New York, Chris Wagner and Matt Duchesne scored 4:16 minutes apart in the second period to lead the Colorado Avalanche over the Rangers 2-1.

Semyon Varlamov stopped 24 shots as Colorado won consecutiv­e games for only the second time this season.

The New Jersey Devils downed the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1 after Mike Cammalleri scored twice and backup goalie Keith Kincaid stopped 30 shots, while TJ Oshie’s second goal of the game broke a deadlock in the third period and lifted the Washington Capitals to a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

Tom Wilson also scored for Washington, who won their sixth straight despite being outshot 35-19.

In other games, Niklas Kronwall and Gustav Nyquist scored 18 seconds apart in the first period as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Arizona Coyotes 5-1, the Florida Panthers defeated the Nashville Predators 2-1 and the Dallas Stars were 4-2 winners over then Vancouver Canucks.
