Sretsis unveils key looks of the Winter Break 2015 ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ Collection exclusively for Muse

- :: PIMCHANOK PHUNGBUN NA AYUDHYA

As homage to the Beatles’ hit Strawberry Fields Forever, Sretsis Winter Break 2015 takes inspiration from a wild child running through a meadow on the outskirts of Hungary. This feeling of freedom and 70s romanticism shines in ruffled collar shirts, flared slacks, off-the-shoulder silk chiffon ensembles, floaty peasant blouses and sheer cocktail dresses in new bohemian floral prints. The pieces play up the gypsy joie de vivre and heritage embroideries and handicrafts in the autumn/winter 2015 Sretsis Labyrinth line. Pimdao Sukhahuta, Sretsis founder and creative director, speaks about the dreamy transitional collection and reveals the key looks exclusively to Muse.

What’s the idea behind doing a transitional collection?

In a transitional collection, we’ve created an extension of the main collection into separate pieces to make them easier to mix and match with the main. We’ve also kept in mind the ethos of different holidays when deciding on the release of the transitional collections.

What’s special about this Strawberry Fields Forever Winter Break line?

We have 17 styles. We further developed the textiles from autumn/winter 2015 Sretsis Labyrinth into a new Strawberry Calico print, a plush 100% brushed cotton flannel and also refreshing the popular Kalocsa Embroidery silk organza with a new Autumn Apricot colourway.

So it’s a further interpretation of the main autumn/ winter 2015 Sretsis Labyrinth collection?

It continues the same mood and silhouettes, but in a more casual sense with updated wintry hues and fabrics.

In both of the collections, there is great emphasis on intricate handcrafted details.

We would like each piece of Sretsis to have value on its own. That is why we focus on the quality of the textiles, the fitting and the story it tells. Hopefully, it will become a treasured piece and tell another story by its owner.

Can you describe what the inspiration behind Labyrinth and Strawberry Fields Forever was and what a normal day of hers is like?

We were thinking of icons like Pattie and Jenny Boyd or Marianne Faithful who embody rock‘n’roll femininity and 70s romance. At the same time it can relate to Sretsis women today who are free-spirited, young at heart and enjoy a dose of her own fantasy. It would be difficult to describe her normal day as it would be anything but ordinary.

The fashion scene has recently seen a serious comeback of the 70s spirit; why do you think freespirit fashion fits the current context?

I think what’s modern and contemporary today is about making your own choice. Like the message from Sretsis Labyrinth, it’s about finding the answer from within and finding what is true to you. I feel the 70s bohemian spirit relates to the current time in a sense that it’s about the freedom of choices and creating your own style.

The full collection of Sretsis Winter Break 2015 Strawberry Fields Forever will be in store at all Sretsis shops (Central Embassy, The EmQuartier and Siam Paragon) and on www.sretsissuper.com from Wednesday onwards.
