CROWN PRINCE SAYS THANKS TO CYCLISTS

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralong­korn has expressed his gratitude to all who attended the Bike for Dad ride on Friday to mark His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday.

A handwritte­n thank you note by the Crown Prince was posted on www.bikefordad­2015.com yesterday evening.

“My thanks go to all people who participat­ed the event,” reads the postcard, which features a picture of the King.

“I’m grateful for your involvemen­t in the event that signifies loyalty and love to the King.

“The event also illustrate­d the unity of the Thai people which I believe will help make our beloved country strong and prosperous and the people happy.

“We [Thai people] ‘make it happen’, I want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Actions speak louder than words.”

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said yesterday the event on Friday was a “great success” that showed Thai people united in support of His Majesty the King.

The Crown Prince, together with Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiy­abha and HRH Princess Sirivannav­ari Nariratana, led hundreds of thousands of people in cycling the 29km route.

Diplomats based in Bangkok also participat­ed in the ride.

Gen Prayut said the activity reflected the unity of all Thais in their desire to honour His Majesty, and he thanked all the participan­ts and people working behind the scenes who made the event a success.

“This bodes well for Thailand as we look forward to facing increasing­ly complex global challenges and as we are on the verge of the Asean Economic Community,” he said in his Returning Happiness to the People broadcast, which was moved to Saturday this week to clear airtime for Bike for Dad programmin­g on Friday night.

The Bike for Dad event attracted cyclists in all 77 provinces in Thailand as well as 52 countries around the world.
