AN ESCAPE THAT’S TO THE EAST OF CENTRE
The celebrity set and the art world help open Bangkok’s newest shopping destination
Residents of Bangkok’s eastern suburbs don’t have to go far to hang out now, with the recent opening of Central Festival Eastville on Praditmanutham Road. The new lifestyle centre opened with a bang, with celebrities, models and young entertainment personalities joining the party, along with their furry friends to take advantage of the pet-friendly facilities.
The hosts were Central Pattana PCL executives Valaya Chirathivat and Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana. They led the guests on a tour of the facilities of the shopping centre, which was designed under the concept “Bangkok Escape” inspired by those found in New York, London and Tokyo.
It offered everything that caters to the needs of the city-dweller, from virtual parks, lush foliage and pet parks to children’s playgrounds, a convenient working space called Thinkspaze, art galleries, family-friendly gyms, a sky run and bike lanes.
Not to be missed, naturally, were restaurant and fashion outlets galore.
Making a mark with their funky installations were eBoy, known as the “Godfathers of pixel”. Eleven colourful Blockbob Eastviller sculptures dotted the landscape, adding fun to the atmosphere. The highlight was the world’s only Blockbob Christmas Tree.
They also created the Bangkok Escape pixorama, similar to those already done for Tokyo, Paris, Rio, Berlin and London. They also created the “Dad Chapter: Royal Project Pixel Art Exhibition by eBoy” that reflected a foreigner’s perspective of His Majesty the King.
