Australian legend Fenech in town for Jarvis debut
Australian boxing legend Jeff Fenech will be overseeing his student Brock Jarvis’ first professional fight at the Ambassador Muay Thai Gym this evening.
Jarvis, also from Australia, will be taking on Thai boxer Fahpikard Sithkringkrai in the six-round 52kg bout at 7pm today at the Muay Thai boxing ring on the third floor of Ambassador Hotel (Tower Wing) on Sukumvit Road.
Fenech, a former world title-holder in three different weight divisions, is now enjoying a successful coaching career and has been associated with some big names including former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson of the United States.
Fenech is convinced that his young student Jarvis has what it takes to be a successful boxer on the international stage.
The Fahpikard-Jarvis will be an undercard fight and the only international-style boxing bout of the day.
The highlight of the programme will be a 72kg Muay Thai bout between Palangchoke Kiatpaiboon and Omer Yilmaz of Turkey, who has taken part in a number of fights in Thailand.
In a 65kg class fight, Japanese fighter Shiima Kuramochi will be testing the mettle of Payakkamron Mor Jombung.
Mondam Mor Jombung will go up against Superlek Por Pakdee in a 60kg encounter and Thepnakorn Chor Somboon will take on Choke-anun Wisanuthep in another all-Thai clash in the 64kg category.
In women’s 56kg match, Dokmaipah Soonkela Chalermphrakiat will face Petchlooksoh Sor Sirinand.
