THE VIP WORKS IN HUA HIN

With the launch of the brand new Club Lounge at the InterContinental Hua Hin, luxury has a new fresh makeover for Club InterContinental guests…

Never has there been a better time to be or become a Club InterContinental guest, while staying at the InterContinental Hua Hin Resort. When booking your Hua Hin holiday or business accommodation, it is well worth upgrading to the full Club experience, as this veritable treat comes with a whole host of benefits and prime location picks for your lodging, and that is just for starters.

If you are or would like to be accustomed to a certain level of luxury in Hua Hin – and let’s face it, we all deserve a little, at least every once in a while – then look no further, help is at hand. The complete VIP works await with a Club InterContinental booking, where the royal treatment can begin before you even arrive.

For the right price, their private jet service can swiftly transport you from one of the two main Bangkok airports within 35 minutes, directly to Hua Hin, where a limousine will be waiting to escort you on a quick ten-minute trip to this seaside resort. Alternatively, guests can opt for the 2.5hour drive from Bangkok, either by resort transfer or self-drive.

Once your feet are firmly planted within the resort grounds, which orient directly towards the ocean and onto the pristine white sands, check-in (and check-out) is carried out in the comfort of the all-new beachfront Club Lounge. Immediately, you see that there are reserved sunloungers, a private plunge pool, dining tables and beachside daybed seating, exclusively for use by club members, as well as the indoor, airconed lounge area, stocked with soft drinks, beverages and snacks, on the house 24/7.

This lounge with a view is surrounded by tropical greenery, decked out with dark wooden tones, subtle splashes of teal, gentle lighting and attractively carved wooden panelling, reminiscent of the colonial era. Here, you are greeted by the incredibly helpful Club team, whose only desire seems to be to ensure you have the most idyllic stay, which they are very accomplished at! This is facilitated by the introduction to your personal 24-hour butler service, and an account of all the very many benefits you are entitled to, during your visit – further recapped in a convenient letter for easy reference.

You are assured of the best seating and priority reservations at all resort restaurants and bars, including the newly launched Azure rooftop bar, across the pool from the lounge. Azure is incidentally a remarkably spot to view sunset as it descends behind the hotel lobby building, since sunrise is over the beach.

Other complimentary perks for Club guests include: unpacking and repacking services upon request; two options for breakfast, either à la carte at the lounge or buffet-style with ‘regular’ guests); a daily changing luxury afternoon tea set, with names such as ‘The Londonian’ and ‘The Hua Hin’ from 3-5pm; not one but three locations to choose from for evening cocktails with a canapé set from 5-7pm, including Azure Bar, or if families have children then at Lee La Bar; a one-hour private professional instruction of yoga or Thai boxing morning or evening; and the pressing of two items per stay.

If that long list were not already sufficient, my personal favourite is the complimentary ‘Bath Time’ service, where you select from one of five enticing menu items, pick the ideal time and your butler will show up with everything necessary to draw you the most decadent bath, before leaving you as discreetly as he arrived. I highly recommend the ‘Time to Recover’, which is the perfect temperature coconut milk bath, with a fresh young coconut on the side to enjoy. You are left rehydrated from inside out, and after you’ve languished long enough in the tub, there is organic coconut oil to apply on the skin, for added nourishment. Since this is an instantly addictive indulgence, you will probably be tempted to make ‘Bath Time’ reservations most evenings, but only the first is free.

The only restriction set on the Club experience is for guests with children. Those over 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and any younger are not permitted inside the Club Lounge. However, there is a kids’ club in the form of their Planet Trekker arena, where children are safely supervised.

The Club InterContinental boasts an entire wing dedicated to their VIP guests, where they have foreseen Premier Club Rooms, Premier Pool Terrace Rooms, Premier Suites and Oceanfront Pool Villas, not to mention the oceanfront ‘La Residence’, an original, ostentatious, old colonial-style two-storey, two-bedroom villa, which has been recently renovated. All of the Club rooms, suites and villas have a multitude of high-end, modern conveniences and thoughtful amenities, to ensure that you never go wanting.

Who would ever want to not book the Club InterContinental upgrade? I, for one, am categorically hooked – never mind ‘a little luxury’, I will take the works at the InterContinental Hua Hin, next time I am in town for a getaway. Keep your eye on their website, as there are also regular offers for Thailand residents, just a click away.
