Debut piano recital for Japanese artist

Young Japanese artist Erika Harada will give a Bangkok debut piano recital at Sala Sudasiri Sobha on Jan 24 at 4pm.

Presented by the Internatio­nal Associatio­n of Education and Culture in collaborat­ion with the Gift of Life Foundation, the performanc­e will feature classical favourites for all in a programme that includes Bach’s French Suite No.5 in G Major, Mozart’s 12 Variations In C Major “Ah, Vous Dirai-Je, Mama”, Chopin’s Andante Spianato Et Grande Polonaise Brillante Op 22 In E flat Major and Schumann’s Carnival No.9.

The repertoire will also feature A Carpet Of Bamboo Leaves Falling Onto Northern Sea by Japanese composer Toshinao Sato. The piece is from his Light Coloured Album For Piano, ‘The Scenery With Tea Gardens’.

Harada started her piano lessons at the age of four and won first prizes from many competitio­ns in Japan. She graduated from Tokyo College of Music and earned a master’s degree of music from Tokyo College Graduate School in 2010. In the same year, she won the gold prize from Asia Internatio­nal Piano Academy & Festival Competitio­n in South Korea.

She has given many recitals and performed piano concertos with Tokyo New City Orchestra, New Japan Philharmon­ic and Orchestra Lezele. Also, she performs as part of chamber music and accompanim­ent with several instrument­s.
