Jazz duo to debut in Bangkok
French Jazz pianist Baptiste Trotignon and Argentinian percussionist Minino Garay will give a jazz duo concert at Alliance Francaise, Witthayu Road, tomorrow at 8.30pm.
This will be the first Bangkok appearance by the two musicians, who have been performing together since a tour in Argentina five years ago.
Trotignon is considered one of the best European jazz pianists and also a distinguished classical composer. He has always been embraced by the public and critics alike — be it as a leader of a trio for his Hit album; as a sideman for drummer/singer Aldo Romano and saxophonist Stefano De Battista; in duo with saxophonist Mark Turner or pianist Brad Mehldau; and as a solo performer.
Based in Paris for more than 25 years, Garay defies all categories, not only as a drummer and percussionist, but also in his ability to incorporate Latin rhythms into jazz.
Throughout his career, he has had opportunities to play with such greats as Dee Dee Bridgewater and Jacky Terrasson. With a very broad range, from songs to jazz, from their own compositions to the Argentinian tango, the duo love playing with beautiful melodies and improvising with South American rhythms.
Tickets cost 700 baht (500 baht for members) and can be purchased from https://lc.cx/4LHT.
