Embrace of the Serpent

This stunning Colombian film recounts the early 20th century expedition of a German ethnologist who meets Karamakate, a shaman of an Amazonian tribe living deep in the jungle. They become friends, and together they set out to find a sacred healing plant while contemplating the trauma of the colonial rule. Directed by Ciro Guerra. At selected SF cinemas.
