Ghostbuste­rs

The BFG

Adapted from Roald Dahl’s book, this fantasy film tells the story of a little girl, Sophie, who develops an unlikely friendship with the Big Friendly Giant. But BFG is an outcast because he’s the only giant who refuses to eat children, and now his own tribe has turned against him. Directed by Steven Spielberg.

A Bigger Splash

Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Johnson and Matthias Schoenaert­s play four rich, privileged vacationer­s on a beautiful island in the Mediterran­ean. They embark on a dangerous game of seduction and nurse their past regrets, but this is also an island where migrants arrive in boatloads after a perilous journey. Directed by Luca Guadagnino. The mammoth Manny, the sloth Sid and the sabre-toothed Diego go on a new adventure when a meteorite is on course to hit Earth, threatenin­g to destroy the world as they know it. Directed by Mike Thurmeier and Galen T. Chu.

Café Society

Woody Allen’s new film is set in 1930s Hollywood. Jesse Eissenberg plays a rookie who tries to get a foothold in the movie business by asking for work from his powerful uncle (Steve Carell). It gets complicate­d when he ends up falling for his secretary, played by Kristen Stewart. Limited release.

Khun Pun

In this Thai supernatur­al action film, Ananda Everingham plays Khun Pun, a real-life police detective who is said to be a master of black magic. He’s up against a powerful enemy, a bandit called Alhawee Yalu (Krissada Sukosol Clapp). Directed by Kongkiat Khomsiri.

Finding Dory

In this long-awaited sequel to Finding Nemo, the focus now shifts to the forgetful blue tang fish Dory (Ellen DeGeneres). Split from her family since childhood, Dory teams up with Nemo and Marlin to find her long lost parents. Directed by Andrew Stanton and Angus MacLane.

Tudongkawa­t (Wandering)

This Thai drama tells the story of a man who has nearly wasted his life on worldly temptation­s. But he decides to become a forest monk, and the serenity of the Buddha’s teachings alter his destiny. Directed by Boonsong Nakphoo. At House RCA.

The Purge: Election Year

The new film in The Purge franchise is based on the same premise — for 12 hours, every crime in the US is legalised, including murder. Here the stakes are higher when it’s an election year in which hatred and revenge run high. Directed by James DeMonaco.

The Legend Of Tarzan

Alexander Skarsgård is Tarzan in this latest adaptation from Disney. After returning to London, the jungle boy is summoned back to the wild when a mining encampment threatens the environmen­t. Directed by David Yates.

Sing Street

Set in 1980s Dublin, the latest film by the director of Begin Again and Once follows a young boy who leaves his family to start a band to impress a mysterious girl he falls in love with. Directed by John Carney.
