Almost, Maine and Art come to Bangkok
Bangkok Community Theatre will present two new plays at Bluebox Studio at M Theatre, New Phetchaburi Road, next month.
The first one will be Almost, Maine, one of the most frequently produced plays in the US since its premiere in 2004 by award-winning American actor and accomplished playwright John Cariani.
The romantic comedy is comprised nine short plays that explore love and loss in a remote, mythical town called Almost, Maine, where extraordinary things happen to nine ordinary couples, against a backdrop of the spectacular Northern Lights.
Directed and produced by professionally trained acting duo Peevara Kitchumnongpan and Tanyathorn Thaicharoen, the play promises to bring a fresh and youthful energy to Bangkok’s English language theatre scene on Sept 8-10 and 15-17 at 7.30pm.
Premiering in Thailand will be Art, a comedy written by French playwright Yasmina Reza. Previously produced by Scottish actor Sean Connery, this dynamic play explores themes of friendship and raises questions about what constitutes art.
The play originally premiered in Paris in 1994 and was adapted for London’s West End stage in 1996. Director Michael Allman will bring this creative and intriguing story to Bangkok on Sept 23-24, 29-30 and Oct 1 at 7.30pm. Due to its strong language, it is not suitable for those under 15 years.
Tickets cost 500 baht for each play (with a 10% discounting when booking both shows).
