This laptop will quench your lust for power

- KOMSAN JANDAMIT

Are you searching for a blazingly fast, large, but still relatively portable laptop? Well, look no further: the Dell XPS 15 Touch Laptop has the power to meet your need for speed. Packed with a top of the line Intel Core i7 brain, 16GB of RAM, a solid state hard drive and a dedicated graphics card, this laptop is insanely fast but energy efficient enough to run a full nine-hour work day without breaking a sweat.

It can also handle current PC games effortlessly. I’ve tried out Final Fantasy 13, Bioshock, Diablo 3 and Tomb Raider at the highest graphics settings and they all played perfectly on the XPS 15 (protip: use a mouse because touchpads aren’t precise enough to keep your characters alive for more than 2 minutes).

Of course, you’ve got 2-3 hours of battery life tops if you decide to game away from an electrical socket, but that’s to be expected with any device.

Gaming is one of the most intense things you can do on a computer (ranking up there with video editing), so typical tasks like email, web browsing and word processing are nothing for this machine.

This is an all-out laptop for people who value performance, looks and functionality at the expense of ultra-portability.

Because while two kilograms might not sound like much, this is definitely not something you want to lug around all day.

It’s the kind of laptop that will impress your peers with its speed and, is a great medium to present projects to clients, what with its High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), Thunderbolt port (for external peripherals) or with its phenomenal, 16-inch screen.

Speaking of the screen, it’s by far the best I’ve ever seen on a laptop. The 5.7 millimetre bezel is super slim and its 4K resolution (3840x2160 pixels) blows most current laptops out of the water. Oh, and did I mention that it’s a touch screen?

It’s pretty rare to see a laptop’s air vents located at the rear or underneath the machine. This one has its vent underneath, pushing warm (sometimes hot) air out through the back door, which is great as it does not blow hot air onto your hands, as many laptops do.

And for years, Dell has been one of the best companies when it comes to aftersales support. This may or may not be a factor when deciding to make a purchase, but it’s nice to know that whenever something goes wrong, you can call and get on-site service 24/7.

The only downside I can find for this beast is the price. While the requested price tag of 86,000 baht is very reasonable for what you actually get, it’s certainly not within everyone’s budget.
