5 INDICTED IN MALIN SKY BAR ASSAULT
>> Prosecutors have indicted five men including businessman Kritsana “Ball” Amitsoon on charges of colluding to assault a general’s son at a pub in Chiang Mai, a senior policeman said yesterday.
Pol Maj Gen Pittaya Sirirak, the acting commander of Provincial Police Region 5 overseeing Chiang Mai, said prosecutors had agreed to indict Mr Kritsana, boyfriend of TV actress Lukkana “Aum” Wattanawongsiri.
Mr Kritsana was allegedly suspected of being the one who ordered his friends to beat up Issarajnuwat Wankawisan, the son of Maj Gen Witthaya Wankawisan, who commands the 38th Army Circle in Nan, at Malin Sky Bar in Chiang Mai on Nov 25 last year.
Prosecutors also indicted four other men who were accused of colluding to attack Mr Issarajnuwat, he added.
The four men are Thanandon Mansawaeng, 23, Adisak Pengleng, age unknown, Apiwat na Lamphun, 23, and Thanomsak Pipatkijkarn, age unknown, according to the police.
They were charged with assaulting Mr Issarajnuwat, who sustained serious injuries.
Pol Maj Gen Pittaya said police wrapped up the investigation into the attack against the five men and submitted the case to prosecutors for consideration two weeks ago.
Mr Thanomsak, who is a security guard for the pub, admitted to investigators who had interviewed him that he attacked Mr Issarajnuwat, police said.
Mr Thanandon, Mr Adisak, Mr Apiwat and Mr Kritsana have denied the allegations.
Mr Kritsana admitted he was at the brawl scene but denied he had ordered the three security guards to attack Mr Issarajnuwat, Pol Maj Gen Pittaya said.
Investigators overseeing the case have agreed to indict the suspects as they have solid evidence suggesting the suspects had attacked Mr Issarajnuwat, he added.
Following the attack, the tambon Chang Phuak municipality in Muang district issued an order against Malin Sky Bar, which is under its jurisdiction.
The order, dated Nov 30, is for Khon Kaen Profiteer Company to stop using a four-storey commercial building which has been illegally extended to build a rooftop pub called Malin Sky in violation of the Building Control Act of 1979.
