THE WAY THEY LIVED
Seacon Square and Seacon Bangkae shopping malls are holding the “King Taksin: The Great Liberator Of Thailand” event to commemorate the Great King of Thon Buri.
The event takes place until Sunday, at the Centre Court and Hall B on the Ground Floor of Seacon Bangkae Shopping Centre, and during March 10-19, at the Fountain Court on the Ground Floor of Seacon Square Shopping Centre, Bangkok.
King Taksin the Great was a leader in the liberation of Siam from the Burmese occupation after the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767. He established the city of Thon Buri as the new capital.
Visitors will find themselves among the atmosphere of the Ayutthaya and Thon Buri eras. The event tells stories of the king’s battle to regain Siam’s independence i n light, colour and sound effects.
Get a glimpse of the old-fashioned way of life and the lives along the banks of Thon Buri in the Living Museum. Join the event to worship King Taksin the Great’s statue and learn about his life at the exhibition. Meanwhile, enjoy delicious traditional Thai dishes invented by Marie Guimar, a Portuguese-Japanese lady from the Ayutthaya period who created many new desserts that became standard Thai dishes afterwards.
The event is divided into three zones. Zone 1, the Living Museum, tells of the way of life of people from China settling in Siam around the end of the Ayutthaya era period and earning their living.
Zone 2, the Assembly Camp, is surrounded by boxing rings, armament storage, chicken coops and horse stables. These will be recreated, bringing visitors back to the liberation-movement era.
Watch performances in visual light, colour and sound effects to relive the history of a heroic fight when King Taksin gathered his subjects, heroes and warriors, as well as King Taksin’s morale-boosting “smashing the rice pot” strategy.
The free-admission performance will be held twice a day (at 4pm and 6pm) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
