Man kills family, himself

- POST REPORTERS

A man shot dead his wife, their 5-yearold son, and his father-in-law yesterday morning before turning the gun on himself outside Nonthaburi’s Sai Noi district office where they were about to sign divorce papers, police said.

Wanawan Piyawong, 23, was found dead at the parking lot in front of the district office with multiple gunshot wounds. Next to her was five-year-old Sukritsadee Deechaiyo, who was shot in the chest and the abdomen.

Two men who were rushed to hospital by rescue workers were identified as the woman’s husband Surasak Deechaiyo, 33, and his father-in-law Theerapong Piyawong, 51. Both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said the couple, accompanied by their son and Mr Theerapong, came to the district office to sign divorce papers.

Upon their arrival, the couple got into a heated exchange at the parking lot when the husband pulled out a pistol and fired shots at her and their son. He then shot Mr Theerapong before turning the gun on himself.

According to police, Ms Wanawan on Thursday filed a complaint against her husband for alleged domestic violence with police at Rattanathibet police station in Nonthaburi.

In her complaint, she said her husband was a jealous man and became violent when they had quarrels. She said they were separated but she felt unsafe and wanted a divorce because he was following her around trying to patch things up.
