Polish violin-accordion duo to play at Sala Sudasiri Sobha

-

A Polish duo on violin and accordion, Karolina Mikolajczyk and Iwo Jedynecki, will deliver the dazzling sound of the instruments at Sala Sudasiri Sobha, Lat Phrao 41, this Sunday at 4pm.

Presented by the Polish embassy, the chamber concert will feature a repertoire of music that represents “Polish pride” by great Polish composers and other great works of modern composers such as Graciane Finzi, Grazyna Bacewicz, Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Rodion Szczedrin.

Mikolajczyk and Jedynecki are one of the most interesting chamber ensembles of the young generation who have claimed grand prizes and first prizes at international music competitions in France, Italy, Austria, Croatia and Poland. They have also played recitals in Switzerland, Spain, Georgia and the US.

Both artists boldly venture into renowned works of chamber music literature. They have also collaborated with leading Polish composers who dedicate their works to the duo. Now, their vast repertoire spans from baroque to contemporary music.

The duo’s debut CD, Premiere, released last year, contains pieces for violin and accordion written between 1952 and 2015 by three generations of composers. Most of these pieces have never been recorded before, making it the first ever album with new music by a violin and accordion duo.

The next two months will see them perform in the National Philharmonic in Warsaw for the first time as well as embark on an Asian concert tour in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Tickets cost 700 baht including a post-concert reception with proceeds going towards the Gift of Life Foundation to help blood disease patients in Thailand.
