Hip hop singer cops weed rap
The singer of the hip hop band, Thaikoon, has been arrested in Bangkok for allegedly possessing 1.3 kilogrammes of compressed marijuana valued at more than 720,000 baht.
Watcharapol Haklindee, better known as “Big P”, was arrested yesterday during a raid on a house on Ram Intra Road in Bang Khen district.
He was sleeping when commandos stormed the house, police said.
Police investigators said the seized marijuana was of a special grade and in wrapping that had the label “PX” written on it. Details of any charges were not disclosed.
The raid led the commando team to another house in Nonthaburi where they found 10 marijuana plants growing in pots. The house belongs to Watcharapol’s sister.
The plants were confiscated as evidence.
Meanwhile, three people were nabbed and charged with trafficking 10kg of opium on Sunday afternoon.
Police caught Sakrapee Paiboon, 39, and Supalak Ratsai, 24, at a roadside checkpoint in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Sikhiu district.
The pair were travelling in a Chon Buri-registered pickup truck when they were stopped by police at the checkpoint for a search.
The opium was hidden i n the engine compartment of the vehicle.
Both were apprehended and allegedly told police they were supposed to deliver the opium to a contact at a prearranged drop.
Investigators later nabbed Prakong Saocharoen, 55, who they said was waiting to pick up the drug near a convenience store in the Amata industrial estate in Chon Buri.
Police said Mr Sakrapee told them that he and Ms Supalak had picked up the opium in Tha Uthen district of Nakhon Phanom.
He told police he was hired for 70,000 baht to make the delivery.
The suspects were charged with possessing the drug with the intent to sell and were handed over to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for questioning in connection with the investigation into the case.
