AN EVENING AT THE BALLET
Chiang Mai Ballet Academy will present a triple bill production of “A Tribute To Our Beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej, The Sleeping Beauty & Aladdin” at Kad Theatre in Chiang Mai, on March 26 at noon and 3.30pm.
Presented in collaboration with Australian Teachers of Dancing Children and Youth Development Association, the performance will feature a five-minute contemporary piece of music in remembrance of the late monarch, followed by a 30-minute classical ballet featuring an excerpt from The Sleeping Beauty.
The show will get more vibrant with a 75-minute performance of Aladdin featuring various styles of dance, including jazz, modern and contemporary.
The main principal cast will feature foreign and Thai ballet dancers who received the best prizes and the first prizes from many international dance competitions from the US, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Macau.
The line-up includes Sasipim Wattanachet, Hannah Staton, Chatnapha Kittirattanapaiboon, Piyawat Muninthorn, Pawinee Suemanotham, Nitchakan Tuanrat, Timarin Wing Holmes, Napatachanatorn Lertterapong and Chonnakarn Panpijit.
More than 300 students from Chiang Mai Ballet Academy, which was bestowed the Royal Award for a school of the highest standards by King Bhumibol, will join in this performance with Mom Luang Preeyapun Sridhavat as artistic director. She won the Asia-Pacific Inspired Woman Award 2002 (in art category) in Singapore and the Outstanding Asean Women Entrepreneur Award 2015 (in art and culture category) in Hanoi.
Tickets cost 300, 500, 800 and 1,000 baht, including a chance to win air tickets from Thai Airways International and many prizes from five-star hotels and Chiang Mai’s best restaurants. Special group rates for students will also be available.
Tickets can be purchased from Kad Suan Kaew shopping complex’s information counter and Chiang Mai Ballet Academy. Proceeds will go towards the 48th Pansa Chalermprakiat School, a school with scholarships for orphanage students under the patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
