Piaget’s Diamond Charisma collection
On a two-week stop in Bangkok, Piaget’s Diamond Charisma collection makes a dazzling appearance at the brand’s boutique in Siam Paragon shopping centre. The 10 exceptional timepieces will then be showcased in other countries for connoisseurs to admire the marriage between haute joaillerie and haute horlogerie.
The Swiss maison operates at two sites, La Côte-aux-Fées in the Neuchâtel Jura region and in Plan-les-Ouates near Geneva, where the integration of expertise in watch- and jewellery-making has resulted in the extravagant white-gold models.
Requiring no less than 800 man-hours per piece, the production involves a dedicated team of watchmakers, jewellers, gem cutters and setters who make the various designs come to life with the sparkle spawned by precious stones certified by the Gemological Institute of America.
The diamonds are meticulously selected before being individually cut to achieve maximum radiance. The creative combination of round, baguette, brilliant, emerald, princess, trapezium and truncated-rose cuts, as well as the invisible setting of the precious stones form beautiful patterns on the high-jewellery watches.
Further demonstrating the craftsmanship, diamond-paved bracelets have been fashioned with an undisturbed flowing look and touch when hugging the wrist.
Taking a quick glance, the exceptional pieces — priced between 20-50 million baht — may seem pretty much the same because of the mesmerising gleam but each model has its own unique allure.
Housed in a 34mm or 40mm case, the Limelight round-shaped model is adorned with round, trapezium, brilliant and baguette-cut diamonds — its dial sparkling with the alternating-shaped stones forming circles.
The slightly larger 41mm Dancer timepiece also features emerald-cut diamonds in harmo
nising the precious stones for the unique piece. The 34mm Possession model boasts an elab
orate face with the oval dial surrounded by an elliptical circle set with baguette- cut diamonds so small that it seems to be an invisible setting. Polo variations are designed with trapezi
um- cut gems creating a sublime radiant effect on the dial whereas the cushion- shaped Stretched Coussin is purely paved with baguettecut diamonds. The beauty of the Diamond Charisma col
lection is complemented by performance as the watches are powered by quartz or ultra
thin manual-winding movement, the latter fitted in the Aura trio of timepieces.
Founded in 1874, Piaget was a pioneer in slim movements with the heritage driving the development of modern calibres incorporated in the iconic Altiplano range.
The maison’s mechanical mastery extends to ensuring the precision of the bejewelled time
pieces that will be on display at the Piaget boutique till April 5.
