Orwellian Thailand
Reading news reports today makes me realise the country I chose to live in has become a champion of secrecy, censorship, criminality and stifled discussion. The top stories on April 27 feature the ACT finally requesting some clarification on the submarine purchase, the order for ISPs to block web pages, the licensing of reporters, the police getting permission to wiretap, and the ongoing sordid saga of police involvement in teenage sex trafficking. Thailand has certainly come a long way but sadly in the completely wrong direction. Never in my wildest nightmares did I expect to be living in a George Orwell novel.
