SWEET CHEESUS
CURB YOU CRAVINGS FOR CHEESE WITH THESE TOASTIES
Cheese toasties are one of those deceptively simple dishes that are — for some reason — rather hard to find in Bangkok. At least a decent one is, anyways. Sure, anyone could put a slice of bread with a piece of cheese on top, shove it in the grill and call it a day. But that ain’t the way I like my cheese toastie.
Say Chiizu Toast has opened up a new branch (in addition to its pop-up store at Centerpoint Siam) inside EmQuartier and has received plenty of attention already. You might have spotted on various Instagram accounts the cutesy-looking packaging the toasties are served in and the super stretchy cheese that comes along with each toastie.
Three flavours are available: classic, charcoal and chocolate. I opted for the Charcoal toast (B69) with the hopes that it just might pack something interesting like a smoky aroma. Unfortunately, aside from its obvious dark hues, there wasn’t anything charred about it. Cheese-wise, it had a very similar taste to basically everything you see with the “Hokkaido cheese” tag on it. Personally, I thought it was a bit bland, not enough of that savoury goodness one craves when eating cheese and just a tad sweet for my liking. But hey, if you’re a fan of the mozzarella-and-cream cheese combo, you’ll probably dig this stuff.
Looking for something more substantial? They’re also offering other dishes like Pizza cheese fries and Pulled BBQ pork cheese fries.
Say Chiizu Toast at EmQuartier is open daily from 10am-10pm. For more information, check out their IG at @saychiizutoast.
