In remembrance of the late King
The Queen Savang Vadhana Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture will host the “Our Beloved Great King Exhibition” at Ratchaprachasamakhom Pavilion of Klai Kangwon Palace, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, from 9am-6pm until May 28. The exhibition will display 70 years of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s contributions to Thailand.
The exhibition is being held on the grounds of the late king’s favourite summer palace where he spent his honeymoon with Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, from April 29-May 1, 1950, after their April 28 royal wedding. The province is also home to his first royally- initiated rural development and irrigation project — the Huay Mongkol Road Project in Hin Lek Fai in 1952 and the Khao Tao Reservoir Project in Nong Kae in 1963 — which led more royal projects nationwide.
The exhibition depicts King Bhumibol’s childhood at Sra Pathum Palace, his first family home in Thailand, as well as his genius, righteousness and royal duties.
It is divided into four sections. “First Royal Residence” tells of the late king’s biography from 1928-1933 at Phra Tamnak Mai (New Mansion) at Sra Pathum Palace, where he spent his childhood. “Royal Activities” describes his lifetime work and devotion to Thailand and the Thai people.
“Worldwide Praise” portrays the heartfelt appreciation of all Thais and the global community for the late king’s selfless contributions. The last section, “Royal Guidance” presents his speeches and teachings.
To enhance the experience, the exhibition showcases hologrammes of the late king’s toy cart from his youth, as well as many national and foreign awards and decorations presented to him.
As the event is being held in the palace compound, attendees are requested to don black mourning outfits. Sleeveless tops and shorts are prohibited. Women must wear black blouses and skirts only. The entrance to the exhibition is opposite Klai Kangwon Palace School in front of Hua Hin 35.
