Tokyo sign midfielder Jakkit on loan from Bangkok Utd
FC Tokyo have signed Thai midfielder Jakkit Wechpirom from Bangkok United on a loan deal to the end of the season, the J-League first division club announced yesterday.
The 20-year-old Jakkit has played for Thailand’s U23 national side, and was a part of the Thailand team who finished runnersup at last year’s Asian U19 Championship.
Jakkit is the second Thai player to currently join the J-League after Chanathip Songkrasin at Consadole Sapporo.
“I’m very grateful to have the opportunity of playing abroad at a club like FC Tokyo,” Jakkit said. “I will work as hard as I can and take in as much as I can from this.”
Jakkit signed his first professional contract with Bangkok United after graduating from Surasakmontree School three years ago.
He was called up to the Thai U19 national team by then coach Anurak Srikerd. He was loaned to another Thai League side Chainat in the second half of the 2016 season.
Although he failed to save the club from relegation Jakkit gained a lot of experience and returned to Bangkok United a much better player.
During an off-season Jakkit and fellow Bangkok United player Sasalak Haiprakhon, who is currently on loan to Buriram United, had a trial at FC Tokyo and received a lot of praises from the club’s coaching staff of the youth team.
Tokyo also said they have signed former Palmeiras midfielder Lipe Veloso and South Korea defender Jang Hyun Soo from Guangzhou R&F.
Jang previously played for Tokyo two seasons before transferring to Guangzhou in 2014.
