A SUSTAINABLE CONTEST
Siam Discovery and Patpat Project under the Chaipattana Foundation invite students and the public to enter the “100 Design 2017: Vetiver Design Contest” to vie for cash prizes worth more than 400,000 baht.
Held with the aim to add value to vetiver grass and promote sustainable careers for Thai farmers, the contest is an opportunity for those with creativity to turn this tropical grass, that is widely planted to help control soil erosion and has many attributes that make it useful to farmers, into products.
Contestants can enter as teams of no more than three members and they are free to design either home decorations or fashion items using vetiver as major elements of no less than 70%.
Each team must submit three sketches of their design and only five successful teams of each category will join a workshop about design development for vetiver. The 10 teams will then receive 10,000 baht in funding to develop their designs into real creations.
The top winning team of each category will receive a cash prize worth 80,000 baht, plus a trophy and an opportunity to develop their own products for distribution at Patpat Shop and Siam Discovery.
The first and second runner-up will be awarded 50,000 baht and 30,000 baht, respectively. There are also two commendation prizes worth 10,000 baht each.
