Giveaway prizes courtesy of Amari Watergate Bangkok (847 Phetchaburi Road, www.amari.com/watergate) which has welcomed travellers to the bustling district for 23 years. The 34-storey hotel was designed by Seven Associates and located on a prime shopping position amid malls and local markets.

This long-established property offers new experiences after completing a major makeover. The lobby now showcases Thai aesthetics through mural art depicting the Thai way of life while illuminated wall panels mimic the movement of water. An epic Murano glass installation titled “Water of Life” was exclusively created by artist Francesco Cappuccio as a nod to the hotel’s location in Pratunam (water gate) and the significance of water to Thai culture.

Its all-day dining venue, Amaya Food Gallery, takes diners on a culinary journey in a vibrant market-style setting. Expect specialities from Thailand and the other Southeast Asian countries as well as India and Italy. The space is complemented by eclectic décor and textural details inspired by the nearby street markets. Think corrugated iron panels, traditional teak balustrades, vintage movie posters and exposed brick walls.

The lunch buffet features seafood on ice, Thai favourites, pasta and a juicy BBQ. Save some room for Indian dishes, assorted Chinese dim sum, freshly made sushi and crispy green salad. Varieties of seasonal fruits are also available. End your meal on a sweet note with various treats from ice cream, ice kacang, crêpes, cakes, mousses, mini-pastries to Thai desserts. Lunch buffet at Amaya Food Gallery is available from Mondays to Saturdays from noon to 2.30pm.
