Keep up your complexion
Working on the complexion alone can have one juggling various tasks from applying primer, foundation, concealer followed by arduous facial contouring and highlighting.
Minimalists wouldn’t bother to take the time nor add more items to their beauty bag. But for those seeking full options, here are some new complexion products that may well do the trick in transforming the face.
Kanebo’s regimen involves a Tone Up Primer, Luster Cream Foundation and Variant Brosse contouring powder to control light and shadow on the face, such as on the forehead to make it look narrower thereby making the face appear more oval.
Sisley suggests using its Instant Eclat glow primer as a make-up base under foundation, then for strobing on outer brows, inner eyes, nasal ridge, cheek bones and chin.
Applying the new Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation, Laura Mercier advises starting from the outer face then working inward towards the nose rather than starting from the centre of the face to avoid over-applying foundation, which can accentuate lines and other imperfections.
Shadow areas such as between and under the eyes can be corrected with Laneige’s Watery Cushion Concealer pen, whose sponge tip reaches the delicate areas. The Cushion Highlighter can then be dabbed on eyelids, T-Zone and apple of the cheeks, by using the accompanying puff to draw out those facial features.
Other user-friendly applicators include YSL Beauté charcoal-infused sponge shaped with a larger and smaller side for application as well as a curved side for blending of its new long-lasting All Hours Foundation.
A double-ended brush does the job in contouring, colour-correcting and highlighting for Urban Decay, whose Naked Skin Shapeshifter complexion palette contains four powders and five creams to achieve various looks demonstrated in its easy-to-follow tutorials on YouTube.
