Central’s floral display features more than a million flowers
Central is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a spectacular floral showcase featuring more than a million fresh flowers of various kinds at Central Chidlom until Monday and Central Embassy until Nov 26.
Held under the theme of “Love And Commitment” to represent a solid relationship between customers and Central Department Store, the “Central 70th Anniversary” festival is an opportunity to witness magnificent floral decorations comprising local and imported flowers, especially Ecuadorian roses, hailed as the biggest and finest roses of the world.
The first floor of Central Chidlom will see red flowers climbing alongside blaze glasses from the 6th floor down to the Piano Hall as well as a wall of red roses, many of them Ecuadorian roses, at the Lobby Lounge; the second floor is transformed into a cactus garden decorated with colourful flowers and a giant swing containing hanging flowers; while the 3rd floor features a giant encyclopedia that will take visitors back in time to witness the past floral decorations at the venue from 2007-2014.
A large wooden conical structure resembling a tunnel on the 4th floor invites visitors to get inside to freshen themselves up with fresh flowers before they will proceed to the 5th floor to get relaxation and a warm feeling with the help of white flowers. Young children will love floral cow sculptures and a little calf on the 6th floor while the 7th floor is reserved for a display of rare winter flowers and shopping for quality products from the Royal Project.
Leading visitors from Central Chidlom to Central Embassy is an interactive floral tunnel. The ground floor features flower decorations by a young Thai student who won prizes from the World Skills Abu Dhabi 2017 competition.
The highlight at this shopping venue is a glass house decorated with thousands of flowers and a 19m-long giant flower carpet featuring the motifs of fireworks to mark the celebratory atmosphere. There will be a classical piano performance four rounds a day at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm.
There are also a flower food market on the 5th floor where 20 restaurants will be serving delicious dishes cooked from flowers.
The opening ceremony will take place on the ground floor of Central Embassy today at 6.30pm, followed by the “Queen Of Phoenix” fashion show featuring the world’s largest brown pearl and a diamond necklace worth more than 700 million baht.
