A ROYAL TRIBUTE WITH GUITAR ORCHESTRA
The Pattaya Classical Guitar Festival & Competition 2017 brings many of the world’s top guitar makers and musicians to Siam Bayshore Resort Pattaya on Sunday at 10am.
The biggest and most vibrant event for classical-guitar aficionados and music lovers on the eastern seaboard, the ninth edition of the festival is organised under the theme “In Memory Of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej” by the Sukosol Hotels and Thailand Guitar Society, and will feature music by the late monarch and other composers. This is the first time the festival will include a performance by the Classical Guitar Orchestra (CGO), which was founded just last year by Sira Tindukasiri and is conducted by Apichai Chantanakajornfung.
The festival will kick off with adult and junior guitar competitions at 10am, followed by a guitar exhibition at 2pm, a student concert at 3pm, and a concert by Thai virtuoso guitarist Santi Kaewjai and last year’s competition’s winner Nattakrit Plewjit at 5pm.
CGO soloist Padet Netpakdee will perform at 6pm, followed by a “Guitar Night” concert featuring the expert strumming of Pongpat Pongpradit, Worathep Rattana-umpawan, Sakol Siripipattanakul, Nalin Komentrakarn and Leon Koudelak at 7pm.
Tickets cost 400 baht inclusive of coffee breaks (200 baht for students) and can be purchased from Siam Bayshore Resort Pattaya (call 038-428-678).
