Bleeding Steel

Jackie Chan is still going strong at 63. In this sci-fi action film he stars as a special forces agent who fights to protect a young woman from a sinister criminal gang. At the same time he feels a special connection to the young woman, like they met in a different life.

Visages Villages (Faces Places)

This French documentar­y features two directors, Agnes Varda and street artist JR, in their road trip across France to meet its working people, from coal miners to dockworker­s, and engage them in an artmaking project in which their photograph­s are enlarged and plastered on the walls. In French with Thai and English subtitles at selected SF cinemas.

The Square

This Swedish black comedy, winner of last year’s Palme d’Or, is a satire of the contempora­ry art world and its inherent hypocrisy. Claes Bang plays a pompous curator of a Stockholm gallery who struggles to cover up his wrongdoing while also coming to terms with his own egomania, arrogance and misguided chivalry. Directed by Ruben Ostlund.

The Commuter

Liam Neeson finds himself once again in a dire situation which forces him to become an action hero. He plays a businessma­n who, during one of his daily train commutes to work, is caught up in a criminal operation that puts every passenger’s life in danger. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

This Thai animated film tells the story of a young man fated to rescue an empire from the rule of the ogres. A martial arts expert, the man teams up with a Chinese pirate, a monkey, and a benevolent giant to take back the land from the invaders.

Insidious: The Last Key

Lin Shaye returns as Elise Rainier, a parapsycho­logist and exorcist who has battled several nasty demons in the Insidious franchise. This time, her most fearsome enemy is waiting in the most unexpected place: her own family home. Directed by Adam Robitel.

Goodbye Christophe­r Robin

Based on a true story, the film narrates the life of children books’ author AA Milne, who wrote Winnie the Pooh in 1920s. The film tells how Milne’s uneasy relationsh­ip with his young son, who becomes part of his stories. Also starring Margot Robbie as Milne’s wife. Directed by Simon Curtis.

24 Hours To Live

Ethan Hawke stars in this violent action film as Travis Conrad, a former soldier now a hired hitman. In a job that goes horribly wrong, Travis is killed by another assassin. In a sci-fi twist, he is revived by an advanced technology — though his resurrecti­on is only temporary and he has 24 hours to live and finish the job. Directed by Brian Smrz.

The Greatest Showman

Hugh Jackman plays PT Barnum, a real-life showman who works his way up from a working-class neighbourh­ood in London. This movie musical tells his life story and his adventure in forming the legendary Barnum & Bailey Circus, a spectacula­r troupe of acrobats, actors and misfits. Also starring Michelle Williams and Zac Efron. Directed by Michael Gracey. Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson leads the cast in this remake of a 1995 film (which stars the late Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst). Following the original premise, four teenagers find a discarded video game console (it was a board game originally) and by opening it, they’re warped into its jungle setting, with wild animals stampeding and forest rangers trying to tame them. Directed by Jake Kasdan.

Tiger Zinda Hai

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif star in this sequel to the blockbuste­r Ek Tha Tiger. The new film picks up on the lives of the two spies eight years after the first movie. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. At Major Ekamai and selected cinemas.

Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds

This big-budget Korean fantasy adventure tells the story of a firefighte­r who dies on the job and his adventure in the afterlife. Ja-hong, dead but not gone, meets three guides in the netherworl­d, and in order to reincarnat­e, he has to pass seven trials or risks being shipped straight to hell. Directed by Kim Yong-hwa.

Memories Of New Year

This Thai production has been filmed in Phuket, Luang Prabang and Phnom Penh, and tells three romantic stories set during Songkran Festival, a shared culture in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. Directed by Sakchai Deenan. In Thai with English subtitles.

Human Flow

Dissident artist Ai Weiwei looks at the plight of global refugees in this documentar­y. Filmed in over 20 countries, Human Flow takes viewers to the hotbeds of the refugee crisis, from Iraq to Kenya, from Mexico to the Greek island where forcibly displaced people come ashore in the hope of finding asylum in Europe.

Ferdinand

Based on the beloved book by Munro Leaf, this animated film tells the story of a fighting bull with a big heart. Ferdinand the friendly bull isn’t interested in bullfighti­ng in the least, but he’s mistaken as a monstrous beast who can harm people. He sets out to return to his family, with a band of animal misfits joining him in the adventure. Directed by Carlos Saldanha.

Jeepers Creepers 3

Sixteen years after the original film came out, the latest sequel of the horror franchise picks up when the monstrous Creeper returns to wreak havoc during his usual 23-day feeding frenzy. A team of fighters will have to put up a good fight to destroy him for good. Directed by Victor Salva.

Loving Vincent

This animated feature is a biopic of Vincent Van Gogh, the famed and tragic Dutch painter, told through the swirling style of his paintings. The movie is composed of tens of thousands of oil paintings made by a number of artists, and they bring Van Gogh’s life as well as the characters in his works to the big screen. Directed by Dorota Kobiela, Hugh Welchman.

Call Me By Your Name

Set in northern Italy in 1983, the film follows the awakening of desire in 17-year-old Elio (Timothee Chalamet), a smart and sensitive boy and son of ancient Greek scholars. When a handsome American professor called Oliver (Armie Hammer) visits his house during a balmy summer, Elio goes through an emotional rite of passage that transforms him forever. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Picking up from The Force Awakens, the new Star Wars film follows the adventure of Rey (Daisy Ridley) after she’s located Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and embarked on a rebellious path with Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaacs). Meanwhile, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order are hatching their plan to weed out the rebels. Directed by Rian Johnson.
