RUGBY TENS RETURN TO PATANA SCHOOL

The popular “Bangkok Internatio­nal Rugby Tens” will return to the Sport Complex of Bangkok Patana School for an exciting weekend full of thrilling rugby games and socialisin­g on Feb 24-25.

The 13th edition of the tournament will feature 100 teams from around the world, including adult, youth and female players from Thailand, France, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand, India, Fiji, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, and the Philippine­s.

This includes squads from various levels of competitiv­eness and skill starting at highly social to highly competitiv­e.

Line-ups represente­d here are categorise­d into men’s rugby, veteran men’s rugby, boys’ rugby, ladies’ touch, ladies’ contact and ancients’ contact, with around 2,000 players from the age of eight to 50. The youth games will be in the morning and adult games in the afternoon.

A number of well-known players will be joining the tournament including Willie Lose (Tonga), Warwick Waugh (Australia), Eddie Evans (Canada) and Hottie Louw, Bobby Skinstad and Thinus Delport of South Africa.

Other players expected are Shane Byrne (Ireland and the British and Irish Lions), Epi Taione (Tonga), Gareth Cooper (Wales), Scottish players Gavin Kerr, Dave Hilton, Craig Chalmers and Jason White, Junior Paramore and Tanner Vili (Samoa) and Paddy Johns (Ireland).

The event is expected to attract at least 5,000 spectators of families and adults living in Bangkok, sports enthusiast­s and expats. They will enjoy a wide variety of activities including get-togethers, rides, games, shared meals and after-parties. All proceeds will go to support Nak Suu, a charity

helping underprivi­leged children from Bangkok’s slums. Bangkok Patana School is on Sukhumvit 105 (Soi Lasalle). There is no admission fee.
