Woman accuses DSI officer of forced sex, blackmail

-

A 38-year-old businesswoman yesterday lodged a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) accusing a police major attached to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) of raping and blackmailing her.

She was accompanied by her 48-year-old uncle, who asked not to be named, and a lawyer.

The name of the officer in the complaint was withheld.

According to the uncle, the businesswoman from Chon Buri was approached in 2016 by the DSI police major who asked to add her as his Facebook friend. The woman accepted because he knew another relative. The pair became friendly online before one day agreeing to go on a merit-making trip to neighbouring Rayong with 10 other people, the uncle said.

They arranged to meet in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district before travelling on to Rayong, he said.

The police major arrived with a large present for his niece and convinced her to take it back to her condominium nearby before setting off on the trip, the uncle said.

At her condominium, the police major raped her and filmed the crime for blackmailing purposes, he said.

The DSI police major phoned his niece later to extort money and demanded further sex by threatening to post the video clip of the rape on social media, he added.

According to the uncle, the policeman had his wife sue his niece for 2 million baht for having committed adultery with him.

The woman had filed a complaint with the DSI against the officer.

But the department deemed him guilty of committing a petty offence which resulted in him being punished by having his monthly salary cut by 1,000 baht, according to the alleged victim’s uncle.

DSI chief Paisit Wongmuang said yesterday he asked the Justice Ministry to set up a disciplinary probe against the officer following the complaint, which the minister has now done.
