Hitachi highlights IoT for EEC
Hitachi is promoting the use of Internet of Things technology with its IoT platform, Lumada, which the company aims to employ to give a boost to Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development.
As the Asean market continues to grow, Thailand is a strategic market for Hitachi, where the company has a presence in railway, industrial products, and information and communications technology (ICT), said Yasuo Mizutani, managing director of Hitachi Asia Thailand.
Leveraging on the development of the EEC, Hitachi plans to promote the use of IoT technologies as part of the country’s shift towards Thailand 4.0, he said.
“Hitachi’s IoT platform, Lumada, enables the co-creation of digital solutions with partners, to improve business productivity across various fields,” Mr Mizutani said. “Through the use of digital tools and IoT to enhance productivity, quality and innovation across various sectors, Hitachi hopes to contribute towards Thailand’s national drive for a smart, sustainable economy.”
Hitachi concluded an agreement in 2017 with the EEC Office on applying digital technologies, including IoT, and the establishment of an innovative environment to promote EEC development in the country.
This year, Hitachi aims to become a strategic innovation partner for IoT, as outlined in its 2018 midterm management plan.
At the heart of the mission is the further development and expansion of Hitachi’s Social Innovation Business, which brings new value through collaborative creation with customers, combining operational and information technology, Mr Mizutani said.
Contributing towards Hitachi’s collective mission, Hitachi Consulting has been selected to design smart city services for One Bangkok, Thailand’s first fully integrated district.
Additionally, Hitachi and Hitachi Asia Thailand have signed a memorandum of understanding with Thailand Post to support the digitisation of mail service.
These projects underscore Hitachi’s commitment to supporting Thailand’s push for a smart and sustainable society, Mr Mizutani said.
Meanwhile, Hitachi yesterday hosted its second Hitachi Social Innovation Forum 2018 at The Athenee Hotel.
The programme comprised a series of business presentations and exhibitions showcasing Hitachi’s social innovation business across global markets.
The one-day event explored technologies and solutions relating to digital transformation, ICT and IoT.
The event featured exhibits on how Hitachi’s solutions in urban development, products, platforms and services can better address modern challenges through collaboration with key stakeholders in Thailand, helping achieve a smart and sustainable society to benefit Thai people, Mr Mizutani said.
