Five talented youngsters on piano
Five young award-winning pianists will showcase their piano prowess during the “Yamaha Charity Concert” at Sala Sudasiri Sobha concert hall, Lat Phrao 41, this Sunday at 4pm.
Held in collaboration with Yamaha Music Thailand, the show is part of the “Thai Talents At Sala Sudasiri Sobha” concert series and will feature a famous repertoire of classical piano music performed by five prize winners from the Yamaha Thailand Music Festival. All of them, aged from nine to 15, have also enjoyed great achievements at both national and international levels.
The youngest of all, Weetiwat Siriwattanakorn, won the first prize award from the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition 2015, and was subsequently invited to perform in Vienna, Austria; Chinhung Lin won first prize from the Golden Classical Music Award; and Tarisa Chanpong was the first-place winner of the American Protege Romantic Music 2014.
Chaithawat Athiphophai won first prize at the Paris Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition 2015, and was invited to perform at the Opera Bastille in France while Ariya Laothitipong has recently won first prize from the 5th International Franz Liszt Music Competition for Young Pianist 2017.
The evening programme will feature demanding and challenging works by Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Tchaikovsky. The finale is Haydn’s Piano Concerto In D Major Hob. XVIII/11, which will be performed by Ariya and accompanied by Yamaha’s piano chief instructor, Dr Yosuke Komura. This is a rare occasion to listen to the concerto performed on the Yamaha CFX concert grand piano together with the Steinway concert grand.
Tickets cost 700 baht (free for teachers, students and parents of Yamaha Schools). Proceeds will go toward the Gift of Life Foundation to help needy blood-disease patients in Thailand.
