-

>> Wanchana Poruangrong beat Renuka Suksukont in a play-off to win the 2nd Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship at Kabin Buri Sport Club in Prachin Buri yesterday.

Wanchana fired a flawless nineunder-par 63 in the final round yesterday to tie first-round leader Renuka at 12-under 204 after 72 holes.

Wanchana took home 142,500 baht while Renuka had to settle for a 96,285-baht runner-up cheque.

“I made an OK start today but my putting wasn’t that great early on,” said Wanchana.

“Then I found my rhythm and made eight straight birdies except on 14 which was amazing.

“I have to say I had luck on my side as well. And the fact that I didn’t really have any expectation coming into the tournament also helped,” added the Surin native.

“It was just one of those days where everything worked out for you. I’m really proud with this title.”

Kanyalak Preedasuttijit (66) and Yupaporn Kawinpakorn (68) shared third place on 10-under 206 at the one-million-baht tournament.

Overnight leader Kamonwan Lueamsri slipped to fifth place as she finished on nine under following a 71 in the final round.

The third leg of the Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship will be held at Rancho Charnvee Resort & Country Club in Nakhon Ratchasima on April 18-20.
