- Call 02-610-8000.

Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery invite local and foreign visitors to witness the traditional Thai atmosphere and Thai culture during the “Siam Summer Gateway” from Thursday to April 16.

Held to celebrate the Songkran festival, the campaign features many Songkran-themed activities at the three shopping malls. The opening ceremony will be held at the Hall of Fame, M floor of Siam Paragon, on Thursday at 3.30pm. It will be joined by actor Porama “Panjan” Imanothai and actress Kannarun “Maprang” Wongkhajonklai from the hit TV soap Bupphaesannivas.

Nine ancient sacred Buddha statues on loan from the Bangkok National Museum will be enshrined there for visitors to worship and sprinkle water on for blessings. They will also learn more about the history of the Songkran festival from an exhibition and learn to make nam ob or Thai fragrances and create flowers from pandan leaves in a demonstration.

At Parc Paragon, there will be the “Songkran Food Festival: Taste Of Thai Tradition” which brings more than 50 famous shops to serve authentic Thai foods in five categories — rice, noodles, desserts, appetisers and beverages.

Participating shops are Khao Chae Phetchaburi, Prang Nara Porkball, Chao Wang Fried Pork Siriraj Wang Lang, Bangmeen (grilled chicken and beef), Baan Kanom Thai Chao Wang The Old Siam and Mae Kee Ratchawat (sago and steamed rice dumpling).

Siam Discovery will also bring Thai traditional food shops from Rattanakosin Island to the Discovery Plaza. They will serve crispy mussel pancakes, yen-ta-fo noodles, steamed chives dumplings and Thai pandan vermicelli in palm sugar and coconut milk.

Digital art installations will be set up to encourage travel lovers to post photos from their impressive trips on Instagram and tag them with #godiscoversummer #siamdiscovery to vie for prizes.

At Siam Center, there will be the “Siam Center Summer Journey Exhibition” featuring the latest simulation of tourist destinations to boost travel inspirations. Two chic coffee shops, RK Cafe by Omnia and Museum of Everything Jinglebell, will serve their aromatic cups until May 31.

Food lovers are invited to dress in traditional Thai costumes and dine at any restaurants within the three shopping malls. For every 1,000 baht spent on their meals, they will receive a Siam Gift Card worth 500 baht.
