Celebrity chef Bobby Chinn brings his cosmopolit­an Vietnamese cuisine to Bangkok

anyan Tree Bangkok is to showcase culinary masterpiec­es by celebrity chef Bobby Chinn from April 25- 27.

The event, which will take place at the hotel’s sky-high, al fresco restaurant Vertigo, is a part of the Fine Dining Lovers Guest Chef Series, initiated by Sanpellegr­ino to intermingl­e Thailand’s gastronomi­c scene with world- class cooking masters from top dining destinatio­ns around the globe.

New Zealand- born, and of both Chinese and Egyptian heritage, Chinn was educated in the UK and the US. He was already 30 years old and enjoying a financial career on Wall Street when he decided to turn his talents to kitchen crafts.

In 2001, with a profound passion in sustainabl­e and healthy Vietnamese cuisine, he opened Restaurant Bobby Chinn in Hanoi, and 10 years later followed this with Bobby Chinn Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City. He introduced to London in 2014 a modern rendition of Vietnamese cuisine, opening the House of

Ho on Old Compton Street to great acclaim.

He has been a judge on Top Chef Middle East, and has hosted numerous travel cookery TV series, including World Cafe, Planet Food, Bobby Chinn Cooks Asia and Celebrity Chef East Vs West.

During the three- day event at the Banyan Tree Bangkok, Chinn will be serving a 4-course set dinner (4,400 baht, or 6,200 baht with wine) and a 5- course set dinner ( 5,100 baht, or 7,300 baht with wine).

The multi-course meals feature some of his signature dishes; for example, Asian-inspired ceviche; green tea smoked duck breast; Vietnamese spiced rack of lamb; and chocolate molten cake made from Vietnam’s own artisanal chocolate maker Marou.
