Living for the city while keeping it out of your skin

- NOKO

In offering “urban cosmetics”, Clarins took a novel approach by introducing anti-pollution make-up for city girls back in 1991.

The complexion products, as a part of an entire make-up collection, were recently relaunched in Thailand, coinciding with today’s rage for anti-pollution formulas.

The French brand transferred its skincare expertise in formulating the make-up with plant ingredients.

Foundations, for instance, feature an anti-pollution complex of white tea and succory dock-cress extract, to protect the skin against the negative effects of urban pollution and free radicals.

White tea neutralises up to 80% of free radicals, according to in vitro tests carried out by Clarins Laboratories, and presumably helps strengthen skin defence.

Other botanical ingredients lend additional skincare benefits to the foundations available in three formulas with different finishes and coverage.

Full coverage is provided by Everlasting Foundation with mattifying bamboo powder; a medium coverage by Extra-Firming Foundation containing polyoses from oat seed; and a “bare skin” effect by Skin Illusion Foundation containing pink algae extract and pink opal powder.

Clarins also developed a loose powder foundation with a built-in brush, to sweep on the make-up with a light coverage and a matt finish.

Pior to applying the foundation, Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch with acacia gum can be used to prime the skin or can be mixed with the foundation for a soft-focus effect.

A spritz of Fix’ Make-Up enriched with soothing aloe vera extract then sets the foundation for longer wear in combating pollution.
