Boy accused of toddler rape
Prachin Buri police and multidisciplinary officials will today interview the families of a female toddler and an 11-year-old boy accused of sexually molesting her after the girl’s parents lodged a complaint with police.
Pol Lt Col Anek Oun-chan, deputy inspector of Kabin Buri police station, said both families will give statements at the prosecutors’ office as part of the investigation.
The case was brought to public attention when the parents of the toddler, who is two years and 10 months old, lodged a complaint with police on May 21, accusing the boy, who is the girl’s cousin, of sexually molesting their daughter.
According to the girl’s parents, the daughter complained to them about pain in her genital area, so they took her to a local hospital for a physical examination.
The girl was referred to Kabin Buri Hospital where doctors found she had a genital infection resulting from being sexually violated.
The parents said the girl blamed her 11-year-old cousin, who lived in the same neighbourhood, for causing the pain.
Pol Lt Col Anek said that police investigators are waiting for the physical examination report from Kabin Buri Hospital.
In a separate case, Pol Col Suchart Lalee, chief of Krasang police station in Buri Ram, said on Monday that three boys, aged 6, 8, and 11, would face charges of inappropriate conduct for coercing a kindergarten boy and a girl to imitate a sex clip as they watched. Although the incident happened while the group of children were playing together in the water, there was no attempt to drown the girl as first reported, he said.
However, the police are waiting for a physical examination report to determine if sexual activity was involved.
