Teerasil: It’s a match to win

- TOR CHITTINAND

Teersail Dangda says Thailand can learn a lot from this weekend’s friendly against China in Bangkok.

The Sanfrecce Hiroshima striker, who is playing in the Japanese league on loan from Thai League 1 side SCG Muang Thong United, joined the national team’s training camp yesterday.

The War Elephants will take on Marcello Lippi’s China at Rajamangala National Stadium on Saturday.

“We want to win this game,” said Teerasil. “Playing against a higher-ranked team is good for us. If we don’t win, we can learn from it. We will know our weak points and can correct them ahead of the Asian Cup [next year].”

Teerasil urged Thailand coach Milovan Rajevac to give chances to young players in this match.

“It is good to have many new players in our team as the coach will have more options,’’ he said.

“I hope they get an opportunity to play.” Meanwhile, Thai League 1 strugglers Navy have appointed Serbia’s Ljubomir Ristovski as their new coach for the second leg of the season.

Navy are currently second from last in the 18-team league with five team going down to Thai League 2 at the end of the campaign.

Ristovski, 48, is a former coach of Vojvodina in Serbia. He coached Khon Kaen United in Thailand’s second tier in 2016 but his stint did not last long as the club were disqualified after their players attacked a referee.

The league is taking a break and will resume on June 9.
