WAYS TO GET IN

-

There are five university admission channels in the Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS).

1 Portfolio

Applicants submit their portfolios showing special talents to the faculties of their choice. The admission criteria are a specialised test and interview. There is no written test, just administrative fee of 50 baht. If admitted, applicants must confirm their placements or they can forfeit their places and seek other admission channels.

2 Catchment Area Quotas

Some universities accept applicants from specified catchment areas, including those surrounding the campuses. The universities can design their own special tests for applicants or use central admission system test questions in nine compulsory subjects in the GAT/PAT systems, plus the O-NET. Each GAT/PAT subject incurs a fee of 140 baht or 100 baht for each of the nine subjects. The O-NET has no fee.

CUPT-supervised Direct 3 Admission by Universities

Applicants can apply to up to four faculties. The choices are submitted but not in the order of preference. The application process is supervised by the CUPT. This channel is also used by applicants vying for places in the Consortium of Thai Medical Schools (CTMS). Applicable fees include the CTMS fee of 800 baht (for relevant applicants), an application fee of 200 baht and placement confirmation fee of 300 baht if they applied to one faculty or 900 baht for four faculties.

4 Central Admission

Applicants go through the central university admission system. They will be selected on the basis of their GPAX, O-NET and GAT/PAT scores. Each applicant can apply to up to four faculties. Fees are: 150 baht for their first choice and 50 baht for a subsequent choice.

Independent, 5 Direct Admission by Universities

The universities use their own admission criteria and set application and placement confirmation fees themselves.
