French night

“The French Alternativ­e” is the next show in the hotel’s “Culinary Classics Series” featuring violinist Tasana Nagavajara and pianist Pornphan Banterngha­nsa in a programme of works by Claude Debussy, Erik Satie and Gabriel Faure, whose music reflects the dramatic changes that took place in France towards the end of the 19th century and the start of the 20th century. The duo will repeat the repertoire at Payap University’s CRK Recital Hall in Chiang Mai on June 9 and at Siam Society in Bangkok on June 12, both starting at 7pm.

The Thailand Philharmon­ic Orchestra presents the “Emilsson on Dvorak” concert featuring the orchestra’s honorary founding chief conductor Gudni A Emilsson in a programme that includes works by Dvorak, Bizet and Theofanidi­s. Joining them as guest soloist will be Grammy nominated Estonian bassoon virtuoso Martin Kuuskmann.

The Bangkok Music Society Choir presents “I Grandi Maestri: A Walk Through The Centuries Of Italian composers” as part of the “Italian Festival In Thailand 2018”. The programme will feature Vivaldi’s Gloria (RV 589) and famous opera choruses such as Leoncavall­o’s Bell Chorus from Pagliacci, Mascagni’s Easter Hymn from Cavalleria Rusticana and Puccini’s Humming Chorus from Madama Butterfly.

Hungarian pianist Anna Granik will give a piano recital featuring a programme of classical works by great composers from Hungary, Slovakia, Czceh and Poland. The concert is a collaborat­ion by the Embassy of Hungary, the Republic of Slovakia, the Czech Republic and the Republic of Poland. LSO to perform

The London Symphony Orchestra, one of the most renowned orchestras in the world, will perform two remarkable concerts featuring works by Ravel, Beethoven and Mussorgsky on the first show; and Dvorak, Liszt and Shostakovi­ch on the latter. They will be led by their principal guest conductor Gianandrea Noseda, with celebrated Israeli pianist Yefim Bronfman as guest soloist.
