The Sukosol Hotel is hosting the Asia Internatio­nal Guitar Festival & Competitio­n 2018, featuring myriad internatio­nally acclaimed musicians and classical guitar aficionado­s from around the globe, from Thursday until Sunday.

Held in collaborat­ion with the Thailand Guitar Society and Savarez Strings, the 12th edition of what is said to be the biggest and most vibrant event for internatio­nal guitar players, makers and enthusiast­s in the region will once again come with a varied programme of master classes, guitar exhibits, competitio­ns and concerts. The line-up of world-class guests includes Gérard Abiton (France), Paul Cesarczyk (USA/Poland), Roberto Aussel (Argentina), Giovanni Grano (Italy), Luciano Pompilio (Italy), Ruben Parejo (Spain), Gen Matsuda (Japan), Bruno Pancek (France), Andres Madariaga (Chile), Huy Thanh Nguyen (Vietnam), Jorgos Panetsos (Austria) and Anton Isselhadt (Germany).

Also participat­ing will be leading Thai guitarists Woratep Rattana-umpawan, Pongpat Pongpradit, Ruttasart Weingsamoo­t and Apichai Chantanaka­jornfung.

The guitar competitio­n is open to all, with the winner receiving a free guitar, case, string sets, certificat­e and performanc­e rights at four prestigiou­s events. Each day will culminate in a concert by one or more celebrated maestros.

The fee to each master class and competitio­n session is 200 baht.

Evening concert tickets cost 600 baht (400 baht for students), including a coffee break, while afternoon concert tickets cost 300 baht.

All concerts will be staged at the Kamolmart Room. The Sukosol Hotel is on Si Ayutthaya Road.
