Talk examines how architects shape society
Siam Society is holding a lecture enitled “Contemporary Architects In Thailand: Bangkok Manifesto” by renowned architect Duangrit Bunnag at Siam Society, Asoke Montri Road on June 28 at 7.30pm.
The talk will highlight the evolution of Bangkok into an inspiring metropolis through “enrolment conversation”, a discussion between committed attenders who share ideas and actions, aiming to reach the desired goals.
The talk will also feature the topic on fostering Bangkok into an economic sphere full of opportunities, and Duangrit will suggest possibilities in his conversation with the Creative District.
Duangrit is the owner of the architectural firm Duangrit Bunnag Architect Limited (DBALP) and the director of the Creative District Foundation.
He graduated from Chulalongkorn University in 1989 and then continued pursuing his architectural education at Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) in London in 1995. Afterward, he returned to Thailand and founded DBALP in 1998. The recipient of innumerable awards, such as the UK’s FX Award in 2000 and the Architects’ Regional Council of Asia (ARCASIA) Award for Architecture in 2013 and 2015, manifests his strong commitment to community life that he will build up the Creative District (the Bangrak and Klongsan areas) as an initiative for developing new urbanity in Bangkok, and helping promote sustainable development in the city and a creative economy.
Having been a guest speaker and critic at hundreds of conferences in Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Singapore, Delhi, Colombo, London and Dhaka, Duangrit has also featured his works in several exhibitions in New York, Helsinki, Copenhagen, London, Vienna and Bordeaux.
